The world often pictures leadership as climbing higher, gaining influence, and being served. Jesus turned that picture upside down. "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant," he taught, and then he washed his disciples' feet.

Leading from the towel, not the throne

Servant leadership begins with a posture of humility. It asks, "How can I help these people flourish?" rather than "How can these people help me succeed?" This does not mean weakness — Jesus led with great strength and clarity — but his strength was always poured out for others.

Marks of a servant leader

They listen before they speak.
They take responsibility and share credit.
They develop others rather than building dependence on themselves.
They lead from character formed in private, not just performance in public.

Whether you lead a family, a small group, a ministry, or a business, the invitation is the same: follow the Servant King, and let your leadership become an act of love.
